The club donated caboose at the entrance of the
New River Trail State Park, Galax, VA.

   We are located in Galax, VA (est.1906). Our community has had a history with the Norfolk & Western RR since the 1890's. Galax is located at the southern end of the "North Carolina Branch". This proposed extension was never completed past Galax to it's planned route in Mt. Airy, NC. The last trains ran here in 1986, the route abandoned & dismantled, and property donated by the railroad to the state to make the current "New River Trail State Park". The caboose was purchased by our club, donated and moved to it's current location at the park entrance.

   Join our city during the year 2006 for our centennial celebration! Each month during the year we will be celebrating a different aspect of our history.
